Lanarkite

Whitwell Quarry, Whitwell, Derbyshire, England

2998

In the 1980's an unusual lead and vanadium deposit was discovered in N.E. Derbyshire. Lanarkite occurs on this specimen both as fibrous crystals within the galena and fully crystallised in small cavities at one end of the specimen. Areas of Mattheddleite occur sparingly on the lanarkite in the cavities.  Ex P. Briscoe collection.  For further details of this mineral occurrence see the Journal of the Russell Society, Volume 24, 2021.
