South Llangynog mine, Llangynog, Powys, Wales
2951
In the 1980s the old tips of South Llangynog mine were worked through by Pentre quarry. Collectors soon after found blocks of mineralised veinstone in the quarry covered in calcite which on removal exposed some of the best sulphide specimens found in Wales. This, an excellent display specimen, from that find shows galena and bright chalcopyrite crystals dotted over a bed of quartz. Ex. Jim Padden collection
