Sphalerite & Siderite

Admiralty Flats, Nentsberry Haggs Mine, Nenthead, Cumbria, England

Unusual form of sphalerite crystallisation.  A possible explanation for its appearance is that the sphalerite seems to have crystallised in the voids left by dissolved out barytes crystals within a bed of previously formed siderite.
