Cassiterite

Haramosh Mountains, Skardu District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan

2398

Cassiterite is only rarely found in Himalayan mineral localities this being the first significant specimen I have seen from there. The quartz matrix is topped by a 40x35mm cassiterite crystal with numerous offset faces with to one side attached lustrous smaller crystals of a simpler habit.
