Aragonite

Broadwood quarry, Frosterley, Weardale, Co. Durham, England

Aragonite is quite rare in Weardale and few specimens of any specie are known from Broadwood quarry which was worked in the first few years of this century. This specimen has tufts of lustrous acicular aragonite crystals richly coating the upper surface.
