Full description

The Eden Valley gypsum (selenite) mines produced this interesting form of gypsum with stellate groups of crystals formed around seeding points creating attractive flower like  patterns - 'Daisy Bed' gypsum. 
This specimen has unusually large 35mm diameter 'flowers' one still containing the seeding crystal. The mines around Long Marton in the Eden valley that produced this type of selenite are long closed and specimens with this unusual form are quite rare now.
