Screel Hill, Castle Douglas, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland

A bed of pretty pale amethystine quartz with stubby crystals up to 4mm across. Crystallised Scottish amethyst is quite rare and Screel Hill has produced some of the countries best specimens. The underside of the specimen shows epimorphs after an unknown mineral.
