Wolframite in quartz

Carrock Mine, Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria, England

Interesting specimen obtained from the roof of a level in Carrock mine on the Smith vein. The 52 mm wide specimen shows biotite mica on both cheeks of the vein with a infill of quartz heavily mineralised with wolframite blades. SW UV light shows small quantites of scheelite in the vein
