Barite

Dirtlow Rake, Pindale, Castleton, Derbyshire, England

19

Dirtlow Rake was a prolific producer of specimens whern it was being worked for fluorite and barytes in the 1970's and 1980's. It is now landscaped and grassed over. Occasionally a form of stalagtitic barite was found here and this is a good example of the type. The specimen consists of a number of parallel, roughly circular tube like growths all shot through with a central hole.
